Objectives

To follow a three-prong approach of exploring the hidden potential through up gradation of (i) Personal Ability (ii) Social Development and (iii) Vocational Efficiency of each special child irrespective of the nature and severity of retardation.To impart sustainable improvement in five major parameters of sharpening of hidden abilities, viz., Cognitive Skill, Self-help Skill, Motor Function Skill, Socialization Skill and Language Skill.
To provide for educational exposure for border line and mild retarded children through Open Basic Education (OBE) and Secondary & Sr. Secondary curriculum under National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with the association and help of accredited centre.
To Provide for Vocational training exposure to trainable children, who usually cannot cope up with formal academic education.
To provide training in Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
(A) Pre School and School Activities:
The children diagnosed as having mild mental retardation or border line I.Q and who are educable and trainable are taken to Pre- School/ Primary Unit. This unit runs in two shifts – Morning and Afternoon. In the Pre-School Unit, the children learn functional pre-academics in small groups. In this unit importance is given on the play method of learning.
The successful students in Pre-School/Primary Unit are admitted in the School/Secondary Unit. In the School/Secondary Unit they learn functional academics and skills for facing physical, mental and sensory challenges. In this unit, the focus shifts to more structured form of learning depending on Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Half yearly assessment is done in 5 major parameters viz, Cognitive Skill, Self-help Skill, Motor Function Skill, Socialization Skill and Language Skill.
All children are exposed to to music, dance, art & crafts, physical education, games and yoga.
Regular parents-teachers interactions are arranged.
